Network Services

Each user on the Mount Aloysius College computer system has a valid username and password. This username and passwords restricts or allows access to various areas of the MAC-ITS servers. All users including students have a personal "I" drive. This is a network drive designated specifically for you. You and only you have access to this drive. One of the main benefits of the "I" drive is that it can be accessible from any computer on campus that you logon. Gone are the days of carrying diskettes around campus. At this time students are limited to 40 Meg of storage.

Several offices throughout campus have designated "S" drive that is shared with other office personnel. These drives are for sharing information among numerous staff members within an office. In addition to shared drives for offices there are also drives that are accessible for the entire campus.

During the summer of 2006 the complete infrastructure (all Cisco switches and hubs) was upgraded. This massive upgrade is made possible through a 3 year leasing agreement. This leasing agreement will ensure that Mount Aloysius College has the infrastructure to support future needs of the college. By evaluating the current equipment prior to the expiration of the lease and investigating new technology, sound decisions can be made as to upgrading the entire college infrastructure to meet the demands of the College. Mount Aloysius College has spent considerable time and money in the network infrastructure.

A wireless network also exists at Mount Aloysius College. Access to the the wireless network can be made with any wireless laptop computer. In addition, the College has installed both a secured and unsecured wireless network. Please contact the Helpdesk for additional information regarding the secured wireless network.
