Mandatory 10-digit dialing from IT Services, Rich Shea Linda A LeaheyShow MyInfo popup for Linda A Leahey 3/3/2021 9:13:41 AM

Mandatory 10-digit dialing

Beginning April 3, 2021, residents and businesses in the 814 area code will need to dial all 10 digits when placing a call.

Anyone attempting to make a call in the 814 area code using only seven digits (without the area code) will receive a recorded message prompting them to hang up and redial the call using the full ten-digit number (area code plus 7-digit phone number).

If you have local numbers saved in your cell phone, home phone, or work phone be sure to edit them and add the 814 area code as needed.

More information about the upcoming mandatory 10-digit dialing practice can be found on the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission website.
